Respiratory diseases are quite common and serious ailment that are more often than not life threatening. They can arise due to genetic predispositions or due to environmental factors. However, infections and smoking are most common causes of respiratory ailments.

#3. Pneumonia – This disease is caused by an infection of the air sacs by a bacteria, fungi, or virus. The infection results in a fever, shaking chills, a cough, and shortness of breath.

#4. Allergies – Allergies is one of the most common diseases. This is where the immune system mistakes and otherwise harmless substance as an invader, thereafter reacting by releasing histamines that cause allergic reactions that affect the sinuses, the lungs, the throat, and the nose.

#5. Lung Cancer – Lung cancer is a leading cause of death in many parts of the world. Unfortunately, it is also quite difficult to detect as it can form in any part of the lungs. Mutations in the DNA cause the formation of irregular cells, which multiply uncontrollably, thus forming tumors or simply cells that impede the functioning lungs.
